Help Support Walker's Recovery
Donation protected
Thoughts, prayers, and strength is much needed for the Keithley family. Their 17 year old son Walker fell while mountain biking in Freedom Park on Friday November 26th and fractured 2 vertebrae in his back. He was helicoptered from the park to MCV in Richmond. He had spinal fusion surgery Saturday the 27th to fuse 4 vertebrae and has a long road of recovery ahead.
Walker is a senior in high school and an avid swimmer and member of 757swim, the Warhill High School swim team, and a swimmer and assistant coach with the Wellington Waves. He’s the oldest of 4 and a terrific, caring, responsible, and helpful big brother. Outside of school and swimming he loves to mountain bike and snowboard. He would love to continue swimming in college as he decides what career path would be best for him.
Walker and his parents are faced with an extended hospital stay an hour from their home followed by several weeks or months at an out-of-town rehab facility for spinal cord injuries. The care he needs is extremely costly but will help him return to his former life and regain as many abilities as possible.
In addition, the Keithley home will likely need to be modified for Walker’s homecoming - converting part of the living area to a bedroom as well as adding a shower downstairs and adjusting the home for wheelchair accessibility.
Thank you so much for your prayers and help during this time. We are so grateful for all of your support.
