Help support The Doolin family

Alex and Dena have been faced with many obstacles and are in need of all the help and support we are willing and able to give. Since 2014 they have frequented ER visits, outpatient appointments, surgeries, labs & testing, etc and have tried so many things to keep Alex's health in check. On Christmas Day of 2015, he had emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer, then again in June of 2016 he had a bowel obstruction. This past month he had another bowel obstruction and was diagnosed with peptic ulcer disease and due to treatment failing time and time again, he had a gastrectomy/vagotomy to remove part of his stomach. 

The surgeon successfully completed the procedure and decided after seeing how he was progressing from not having any food since last Wednesday and being fed through a PICC line, it was best to not remove half of his stomach but rather expand his duodenum and clip the nerves to prevent any more stomach acid being produced. Though his surgery went quicker than normal than anticipated,  He is having a much more difficult time with his recovery than anticipated. He was in pretty severe pain from the surgery and nasogastric tube as tons of blood and bile is being intermittently suctioned out and he will need pain meds every two hours. He will stay in the med surgical unit about a week to see how his stomach digestion progresses and recovery will be spent at home as he will be unable to return back to work until the new year with unpaid leave and a myriad of medical and living expenses.

They were just informed he will not be able to recieve disability through his job as he is only a contract employee through USPS and as a last resort are in need of support from friends and family. With the holidays coming quickly, having a little one, and being out of work, every bit of support will help.
