We are uniting to stand by our friend Sue, affectionately known as “Maki” to some, as she courageously battles Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). Sue embodies selflessness, with a contagious zest for life that touches everyone she meets. She's been there for us with her warm smile and helping hand, and now it's our turn to rally around her in her time of need.

About Sue's Diagnosis: Sue has received the challenging diagnosis of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, specifically Triple-Negative Breast Cancer. TNBC is a particularly aggressive type of cancer that doesn't respond to hormonal therapy or medicines targeting HER2 protein receptors, presenting fewer treatment options and making her fight even more daunting.

Why Sue Needs Our Help: Sue's battle against cancer is compounded by the limited access to Health Insurance and specific chemotherapy treatments on our island. She faces a rigorous treatment plan, including 6-8 months of chemotherapy followed by surgery and radiation therapy for 6-8 weeks. Unfortunately, the latter part of her treatment isn't available locally, adding significant complexity and cost to her care, including travel and accommodation expenses during treatment away from home. Daily expenses continue, and Sue's independent spirit is met with a challenge that requires the strength and assistance of our community.
