Community, our lovely Simona Miu was involved in a horrific accident.
Monday 10/04/2021 Simona and her fiancé Luis were involved in what some would call a freak accident. A moving van backed over Simona knocking Luis out of the way and dragging her across the street from the front of their apartment building. She was dragged 40 feet clear across the street. The van was miraculously stopped by the scaffolding and stop sign it hit. Luis and others watched as our very kind and beloved Simona got dragged, she held on to the bumper, until she couldn't hold on any longer. Her body curled up in a fetal position and rolled beneath the van's undercarriage.
Luis writes: “I was lucky enough to get knocked away from the van as it wildly careened, in reverse, across the street. As I dragged myself across the street, trying to reach my baby, I thought my Queen had been paralyzed, at best, or at worst…killed. When I finally reached Simona, through all the pain, her first words were "Are you ok?" Had the van not stopped the front tires would have backed over her head, had I managed to grab her and pull her to me, I would have either lost an arm or lost her as the van would have ran across her mid section. The Universe gave my baby a chance. She was lying on the black street top, crowd gathering, in an indescribable amount of pain, firefighters lifting the van so the paramedics could safely pull her out, I can hear her voice through all the painful screams…"is Luis ok, where is he?" When she was finally loaded onto the ambulance, sitting next to her, her lower leg dangling off to the side, she looked up at me, through the pain, in a moment of clarity and again asks me if I was ok… I LOVE THIS WOMAN.

Simona ended up breaking her right lower leg in two places, she broke her left shoulder blade, she broke her left clavicle, she fractured some lower vertebrae, she broke 6 ribs, road burns on her face and all over her back, yet, she was lucid enough through all the pain to ask about me. If you know Simona, you know what a wonderful person she is. Most likely she has shown you a great kindness, gone out of her way for you and helped you with whatever it is you need help with, or just kicked it with you and listened to whatever is bothering you at the moment. She is a Mama Bear to her closest people. Many can attest to her willingness to go above and beyond for the people in her life. Simona will heal, she is in an insane amount of pain, and is burdened with thoughts of pending medical bills.”
Simona has since undergone surgery to help with the repair of her broken right leg and is being treated for the pain. They have not yet discharged her from the hospital as her pain has not yet been managed well enough to let her go home, fears of pneumonia and other possible complications are keeping her admitted. She has a long road ahead and recovery will be tough. Please help support our cause and to alleviate some of the financial burdens that she and her partner will have to endure.
