Help Support Linda N & Glen H

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Miranda Hudgens. Many of you know me, but for those who don't, I am the youngest granddaughter of Linda and Dennis Newton and youngest daughter of Glen Hudgens. Our family has had a long tough battle with Covid and our fight is not over yet. Many friends, relatives, and others in the community have expressed the wish to help our family in some way. So we have decided to set up this GoFundMe to help raise money for the continued care of Linda Newton and Glen Hudgens.

On December 14th Dennis Newton came down with severe Covid pneumonia and was admitted to St. Joseph Hospital. Shortly thereafter, Linda became ill as well and was admitted on December 23rd. The next day Glen tested positive and he fought long and hard before being admitted on December 30th. Many of the rest of the family also contracted Covid during the same time frame, but were thankfully able to recover. We lost Dennis on January 1st after being on the ventilator for two weeks. Normally, a family would be able to mourn the loss of a member, but with two others in critical care it has been extremely difficult to do so while remaining positive for those still fighting. Linda entered ICU and was ventilated shortly before Dennis's passing. She remains in extremely critical condition. Glen has been in the hospital for 8 days now and things were looking very hopeful, but unfortunately he is unable to maintain a healthy oxygen level on his own. Thus, this morning Glen was transferred to ICU. He is currently on a BiPAP machine and is still conscious. We are hopeful that this treatment will help him regain strength in his lungs and eventually allow him to breathe on his own.

As I said before, our fight is far from over. Upon Linda and Glen's discharge there will be many more steps we will need to take to ensure their full recovery. This potentially includes stays at Covid health rehab facilities, respiratory therapy, home health care, new medications and much more. We ask that those who wish to help please donate to this GoFundMe and all proceeds will go to Linda and Glens continued care. Those wish to remember Dennis may also make gifts in his memory here

Lastly I would like to personally thank all those who have called, texted, posted on Facebook, sent food and flowers. It warms our heart to see how many people Linda, Dennis, and Glen have influenced in their lives. We have a strong community of friends and family and you all shown that we are not alone in this. I would also like to thank the nurses and doctors at St. Joes on Floor 5 and ICU who have worked tirelessly to help keep our family alive. They are the true heroes of this story.

Thank you all again,
Miranda

Update:

We lost my beautiful grandmother , Linda , on 1/19 to this horrible virus. She has joined her soul mate, Dennis just 19 days after his passing. She was a joyous spirit who loved all her children, grand children and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by  her Brewer neighborhood, loving dog Riley, church friends and farmer's market family. A full obituary will be followed in the next few days and a celebration of life to be determined. We love you Lily  (grandma New New)- rest in peace!
