Hi - I'm Martine! Seated in the Mongol Derby 2023 as the 2nd Danish contestant to ride the World's Toughest Horserace.

It's pretty simple. I am riding for everybody with adventurist daydreaming habits! And why shouldn't you ride the craziest horse race in the world? You should! - or at least I hope to take this fantasy adventure to the actual Steppe of Mongolia for once. Going 1000 km from A to B in more than one way.

I have many reasons to stay or to go. I chose to GO GO GO.

Supporting my being and the rest of you snoozing out from your daily J.O.B/family/relationships - to a place more significant than the great Monopoly - I say YES to making everyday magic happen. Dreaming of the vast steppes and a more profound feeling of beliefs that can be supported and gather more significance in ordinary people's lives.

I have a long riding and training career behind the written words. Thirty-three semi-used horsy years spent daydreaming about actually doing something profound and valuable with the teachings I have learned. It might not be the most important lesson to know about me - it's more a step towards more vast experiences beyond training, feelings and career.

Nothing feels more fitting than to search for fulfillment. I use every second to test and try many ways to live life and spend my best work life with my favorite people. Whether being a hobby entrepreneur or being with the best colleagues on a full-time job - I can't stop the need to push boundaries to turn the tables and make memories that last a lifetime.

With your donations, I look forward to showing the Danish red and white colors in Mongolia. Funding will allow me to experience a one-in-a-lifetime race in the rough and untamed, with a lot of stories untold in the wilderness.

The Mongol Derby is the longest and toughest horse race in the world. We don’t say that lightly. A decade after the race's launch, that title is still backed up by riders year after year.

In 1224 man of the millennium Chinggis Khaan set up the world’s first long-distance postal transmission system. Using a massive network of horse stations – ‘morin urtuus’ in Mongolian – his hardy messengers could gallop from Kharkhorin to the Caspian sea in a number of days.

For ten days each August, the Mongol Derby recreates this legendary system, building a network of urtuus at 35km intervals along the entire thousand kilometre course.

It was the nerve system of the largest empire in human history, and at its height, Genghis Khan’s mighty horse messenger system connected half the planet. For a decade we’ve been rebuilding this ancient network to stage the world’s greatest equine adventure race.

You square up to 1000km of Mongolian steppe on semi-wild horses, changing steeds every 40km. You navigate and survive on your own wits and skill, living among the herders. It’s you and your horse vs. the wild.

This is the longest and toughest horse race on earth. This is the Mongol Derby.
