Help Support David Bushing's Brain Cancer Battle

Donazione protetta
UPDATE: 10/9/23
Wow – it has officially been a year since David’s diagnosis of a Grade IV Glioblastoma and a few things have changed since our last update. The good news is that David’s treatment is proving effective! His frequent trips to Duke University Hospital to participate in a clinical trial have been able to hold the tumor at bay—there was even a slight decrease in its margins at his last MRI! However, even though his treatment is working, glioblastoma is still currently considered to be a terminal and uncurable cancer, and this trial is working to fight anymore progression of the tumor but will never completely take it away. If left untreated, the tumor will resume its progression. This means that David will need to start looking into making these treatments a long-term facet of his life, and with the effects of the tumor and treatment on his brain, at this time resuming work to keep him afloat does not look like a concrete option. David wants to continue his fight to the best of his ability, and in order to do that he needs some help. Dave’s fight is our fight! In addition, please look into donating to fund further glioblastoma research and lets all help work to treat this devastating disease!
UPDATE:
Good and bad news. The bad news is, Dave's tumor has already returned and he must undergo more aggressive treatment as the chemo and radiation were not as successful in keeping the tumor at bay as the doctors had hoped. Dave was set for a second surgery when some good news finally arrived. The good news is, Dave has been accepted into a clinical trial at Duke University Hospital! The trial utilizes repeated intracerebral and subcutaneous injection doses of investigational compounds D2C7-IT and 2141-V11 over a year, in hopes of shrinking and/or killing the recurrent tumor.

While this is probably the best news Dave could have ever received at this point, participation in the trial requires a very large financial commitment. Dave will have to spend a few weeks at Duke at the beginning of the trial, and then return every three weeks for a year to receive his injections. This will require countless flights, hotels, cars, and growing medical bills for the foreseeable future. Dave has been out of work since July of 2022, and still has a long road ahead. While this is an incredible opportunity, it is not without its hardships. To ensure his journey and fight for life keep moving forward, he once again requires some assistance.

Dave appreciates all of the positive, love and prayers that have been sent his way, and most importantly he wants to live. If you feel called to donate, this is the place. We sincerely thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Thank you.

If you're reading this, we already thank you for your support. If you know Dave, you know he's the sweetest guy you could ever meet. Sadly, a few weeks ago, Dave was rushed to the hospital, having to undergo emergency neurosurgery to remove a tumor in his brain. Although he is recovering well from the surgery, his tumor has since been diagnosed as a Grade 4 Glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer. At the end of August, he will begin radiation and chemotherapy treatment five days a week for six weeks.

Dave is a loving father to his two kids, a caring friend, an incredibly hard worker, and that one guy who seems to know everyone--we all love him dearly. Dave is unable to work for the foreseeable future and relies on a commission-based income. Over the past few weeks, so many people have sent love and positivity to Dave and his family and it is appreciated more than you know. Many wonderful people have offered their aid, asking what they can do to help during this difficult time. To support him in his fight and make certain he has access to the treatments he requires and the time to heal, he needs some help. Funds that are raised will be used to remove obstacles and cover the extra expenses he will face during his treatment and recovery.

Daves’s family appreciates all the love and kindness that is being sent during this difficult time. Thank you!
