Help Support Chloe Kissner - Lemierre Syndrome

Donation protected
If you know Chloe Kissner, you are aware of how integral she is in the community and just how big her heart is. She teaches multiple yoga classes at YogaDurango, Pause and In The Weeds. Her bright smile is consistently at Seasons of Durango serving you local flavor and the best of care. There is a good chance that at some point, she has stepped up for you or someone you know and shown up in a personal way. I am reaching out today because currently, Chloe needs our support.

She was very ill two weeks before Christmas. On Friday the 22nd, she asked a friend to take her to the hospital. Experiencing shortness of breath and extreme pain, she recognized that something was not right. There were two very scary days at the hospital while they tried to diagnose her. She was fortunate to have a detailed doctor who recognized her symptoms – Lemierre syndrome. It is a rare bacterial infection that is fatal if undiagnosed. Affecting young, otherwise healthy people, originating from a sore throat, it is easy to miss. Basically, while we thought she was overcoming an extreme case of COVID, pneumonia or influenza, her body was developing dangerously fatal blood clots within her neck and lungs. If she hadn’t reached out for help that evening, there is a good chance she would have died.

On Christmas Eve, she received her diagnosis and we thought the worst was over. However, that evening, her health declined dangerously as her body did not respond to the antibiotics and the infection grew. With concern that the clots could spread into her brain and stomach, she was once again moved into the intensive care unit.

Today, she remains at the hospital with the hopes of being released late this week or next as she is now slowly but steadily responding to treatment. She will need to continue treatment for the next month and just today, was given doctors orders that she is not to be physical for at least four weeks. This includes work. I am reaching out to request help for our friend. Any donations will go to guiding her healing without the constant worry of trying to make ends meet.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated and there are multiple ways to help as Chloe begins this long road to recovery. First, donating to this Go Fund Me will help her with bills, medical concerns not covered by insurance, and helping to keep family from out of town with her. As she is released, we will be putting together a Meal Train so she will consistently have healing nutrition within her reach. Hannah will be organizing this so if you are interested please contact her at (970) [phone redacted]. It will be a very long month of rejuvenation once Chloe makes it home, so consider reaching out to her and coming to keep her company once she is released. Even just sending a text message will bring her joy. At the very least, if you are unable to donate monetarily, please consider sharing this post.

It is important that we step up and show love to those who have been there for us. Chloe’s heart is even bigger and brighter than her vivacious smile, which is saying a lot. While there is uncertainty in the next few months, I am convinced that Chloe will approach this hurtle with the same determination and compassion that she shows even on the most ordinary of days. Thank you for your consideration.
