Help Support Aubrien Jimenez

Aubrien is a big sister to her 7-year-old sister and 5-year-old brother. She is entering her freshman year of High School. She loves people, God, her family, and softball.

:: History ::

In December, Aubrien lost her taste and smell. With COVID we didn’t think much about it because that’s been a common symptom for most.

 In May, she started having issues with her left eye tearing up. We went to her eye specialist, and it was treated as normal pink eye.

 The beginning of June, she started complaining that she could not breathe through her left nostril. We took her to her pediatrician’s office, and it was treated as a sinus infection.

 After 7 days on amoxicillin, she still wasn’t better. We took our next trip to the doctors. They concluded that maybe she needed a stronger antibiotic because some germs can be resistant and placed her on Augmentin for 10 more days.

 On Friday, June 25th, we went back to the doctor and was told to give it more time as this seemed to be a bad infection.

 Something just wasn’t right.

We took her back in on Tuesday, June 29th, and her amazing pediatrician who she has seen forever took one look at her and said she needed to get to All Children’s emergency room.

Two different biopsies were administered as well as MRI’s, CT scans, Pet Scans and so much more.

 After 7 days in the ICU at All Children’s Hospital, we finally received the diagnosis.

:: Official Diagnosis ::

Pediatric Esthesioneuroblastoma Stage D

 About 800 children worldwide have been diagnosed (1 in a million).

 This is a rare type of cancer that forms in the tissues of the upper part of the nasal cavity (space inside the nose). This area is near the bone that separates the nasal cavity from the brain. These tissues are involved in the sense of smell. The average age for this disease is 55 years old.

 The Esthesioneuroblastoma found in Aubrien has spread from her nasal cavity to the bone around the eyes, the sinuses, into her brain and into the lymph nodes in her neck.

 Bimodal treatment seems to be the most effective form of treatment This involves chemotherapy, radiation to shrink the tumor, surgery to remove it. Then it requires radiation after the surgery to kill any remaining abnormal cells.

:: Our Request ::

Our health insurance is through Florida Blue. We do not have out of state coverage. There are three hospitals in the country that specialize in this rare type of pediatric cancer.

 We have decided to partner with Texas Children’s Hospital as this facility specializes in the pediatric version of this disease. The plan is to fly Aubrien to Texas once she becomes stable and is discharged from All Children’s ICU. Texas Children’s Hospital requires 40% of the estimated cost up front.

Aubrien will also need 6-7 consistent weeks of radiation. 5 days a week. 20–30-minute sessions each day.

 We thank you guys for donating to her Go Fund Me page to help pay for medical expenses, travel expenses and the cost-of-living arrangements while living away from home.

My husband and I have both stepped away from work to take care of Aubrien.

 We are trusting God with our fourth child (the discipleship ministry of Inspiration Academy) while we take care of our first child (Aubrien).

 We thank each of you for your prayers. Your encouragement. Your tears. Your donations. Your steadfastness. Your generosity. Your donations. Your kindness. Your faithfulness. There are truly no words to express our heartfelt gratitude. Please continue to PRAY, praise, share and spread the word.
