Help support Andy Reese on his road to recovery

On July 18th, 2020 (our 12th wedding anniversary), Andy suffered a spinal cord injury from a diving accident in a swimming pool. He was life flighted to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He fractured his C3 and C4 vertebrae. During his 6 hour surgery, the surgeons removed fragments of his shattered vertebrae, and used metal plates and a metal rod to stabilize his neck and spinal cord. He was left paralyzed from the shoulders down. He is currently on a ventilator in the ICU to help him breathe. He also has a hematoma on his spine. Currently, Andy is battling pneumonia, which is hindering his progress.

Many people have reached out to see what we need or what they can do to help. After only 1 week post injury, we have a better sense of our 'new normal' and what is to come. Andy has a lifelong road to recovery ahead of him, so any and all positive thoughts and prayers are welcome.

First and foremost, we want to provide Andy with the best medical treatment and therapies available. We are asking for help to alleviate the costs of Andy's current and future medical needs, such as hospital bills, medical equipment, and nursing care/services. In the near future, we will need to purchase a suitable home and retrofit it for Andy's needs. Along with purchasing medical equipment, we need to attain a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
