Help Sunflower Gardenz Expand

Peace and Love, Sunflower Seeds. We are Mo and Kam, the owners of the plant based bakery + cafe Sunflower Gardenz.

We started this business on the 22nd of March, right before the city got shut down. And we have been running it from our very own kitchen at the Love And Solidarity Collective since. We acquired a deep freezer a refrigerator and plenty storage shelves before our new reality hit us: we have ran out of room and can no longer run the business from our home.

The goal of this fundraiser is to help a Black Owned Business obtain funds to pay for an incubator kitchen (a licensed kitchen that is in good standing with the FDA and the health department, rented from either an existing restaurant or a food incubator for small business like Eats Place on Georgia Avenue) as well as a Food Truck. We recently obtained our LLC and other state licenses and the natural next step would be to get a place of our very own. Due to Covid, and Mo being immuno comprised, a storefront just isn’t where our hearts are. But with a truck we can have access to our hearts every desire. We can park at different locations and service larger areas. So many people outside of our delivery range haven’t gotten a chance to try our products and we want that chance.

The $15,000 being requested will go towards a food truck + fixing it up to fit our needs. It will also help to finance the first year (up front) at the incubator kitchen that we choose. 

No donation is too small. We promise you. And we appreciate and value you all for supporting us this far. Please help us continue to provide local and sustainable vegan baked goods, breads and brunch meals to the people of Washington, DC.
