Help for Super Parker Jones

LET'S HELP SUPER PARKER "STRAIGHTEN UP"!

If you are lucky enough to have met the son of my good friends Jennifer and Nik Jones “Super Parker” then you’ll know why he truly is a SuperHero. Parker is a 9-year-old enthusiastic lover of life filled with genuine kindness towards people and compassion for animals – if you give him 5 minutes he’ll completely win you over. His soulful smile and hilarious sense of humor are just two of his amazing superpowers.

Parker is currently in need of a surgical procedure to correct his scoliosis which unfortunately is not completely covered by insurance, so that is why we are reaching out to friends and family of the Jones to ask you to consider a donation of any size so we can help Super Parker "Straighten Up".

Parker’s journey into the world came early, born at 32 weeks he spent his first two months in NICU and has had a multitude of medical challenges that most of us wouldn’t want to deal with in one lifetime, let alone in just 9 years. Diagnosed early on with a heart condition and then scoliosis at 18 months Jen and Nik knew this miracle baby was going to need many miracles in his lifetime.

In 2017 Parker had open heart surgery and powered through it like a superhero. Unfortunately, during his routine post-surgery checkup, they found that his spine curvature had increased 13 degrees in less than a year.  Jen and Nik have done just about everything medically possible to postpone surgery but they know that in order for Parker to live a full and active life now is the time.

The common procedure used for young children with scoliosis is Halo Gravity Traction.
As Jennifer explains in the video this option would be a very long, painful procedure for a young and active boy like Parker.

The good news, there is an alternative surgery. Anterior Scoliosis Correction.
Unfortunately, due to the ‘newness’ of this procedure, the FDA has not approved it and insurance will not cover the actual procedure, only medical care pre, and post-surgery.

The medical facility requires a deposit prior to the surgery to ensure that families are prepared to fund the procedure. Jen and Nik are looking at a total cost in upwards of $60,000 to $65,000.00 outside of what is covered by insurance. The procedure will be in New Jersey and they will have to relocate temporarily for several weeks while Parker heals, incurring even more costs than the procedure alone.

Please consider donating to the Super Parker fund so we can get the best surgery for our favorite superhero. We all want nothing more than to see Super Parker running, riding his bike and hiking with dogs and people in the hills of Boise.  Thank you for anything you can contribute!

Jen tells us a little more about the journey with her little superhero, Parker in the video below.

Thank you from the Jones and family!
