Overview
Despite the successful rollout of vaccines across many countries the pandemic is far from over.
We need early, effective solutions now to ensure we are prepared to meet any new crisis head on.
We are seeing variants sweeping though a number of countries and even the most vaccinated countries are on high alert for new possibly vaccine resistant waves.
The scientific community believe that ‘vaccines alone are not enough’(Scientific American).
The UK government echoing Dr Fauci believe we are going to need other treatments.

At the outset of the pandemic we recognized that treatments would be required that could prevent infected patients becoming very sick not just from current forms of COVID19 but other future threats.
We looked at the need to have a treatment that could not only reduce the amount of virus in the body but also the associated runaway inflammation and multiple blood clots.
One drug stood out as having all those properties-Enhanced Liquid Aspirin.
A new formulation of one of the worlds oldest and most tested drugs.
A formulation that improved its safety profile further while improving its efficacy in a number of key areas.

Now the world’s focus has shifted its focus dramatically to in-home oral treatments alongside a vaccination program.
The announcement by the UK government of a special taskforce to look for this type of treatment clearly shows this shift of focus.
This hope is that ELA will keep the disease from progressing and prevent hospital trips.
ELA has gained regulatory approval from both the MHRA in the UK and FDA in the USA to carry out clinical trials.
ELA is perfectly placed to almost immediately fill the treatment gap the government has identified.

Louisiana State University is beginning a clinical trial recruiting up to 200 patients with early signs of COVID within the next 6 weeks.
Patients will be given ELA or a placebo and undergo a range of assessments over a 10-day period.
The hope is that those taking ELA will show a reduction in illness severity and duration and therefore avoid hospitalization.
It is anticipated that a similar trial of ELA will also be commenced at Guy’s and St Thomas’s hospital in London headed by Dr Julie Fox, the South London Infectious Diseases CRN lead.
