Help Stockbridge Students Get A Homecoming

Donation protected
Hello Beautiful Community of Stockbridge Michigan. What I love about this small home town of mine, is watching us come together when there is a time of need. Recently I’ve come to realize some serious struggles within our school district. With staff changes, comes changes in those people who held positions to lead school organizations such as student council. Teachers have stepped in to fill voids and gaps to try and give our students some hope of a regular school year full of regular school activities. It’s not a secret that there has been a serious lack of funds, or ability to fundraise to make the school events an affordable possibility. We also have to take into consideration all the rules that our county has placed for these type of events due to Covid-19. This all being said, the student council, teachers and administrators at Stockbridge Jr/Sr high are desperately trying to plan a semi formal homecoming dance, Saturday October 16th the Saturday after the Homecoming Parade and Football Game. I’ve learned that there is literally little to no money in the accounts to make this possible. The county mandates In place state that the school dance must be an out side event (like prom last year which was a huge success). That mandate almost triples the cost of putting on the dance. Tents need to be rented, heaters, decorations, DJ, refreshments. It all adds up fast. Teachers have even considered placing the charges on their personal credit cards to make this happens for their students. These kids haven’t had a dance of any type in two years, other than prom which was for the Juniors/Senior students only. After chaperoning Prom myself, I can tell you those kids needed that night! It was nothing short of amazing! Instead of trying to throw together a bunch of small fundraisers and trying to sell items and get money in less than a month, I’m asking our community to come together, and do what we do best, and help! If you have a tent to loan, know a DJ, want to contribute to refreshments, you name it they probably need it. Or if you are able to make a monetary donation here, all funds will be given to the student council to help give these kids a chance at having a homecoming dance.
