Help Staff at You Need Pie During Shut Down

Hi everyone! As many of you know at You Need Pie, we had a problem with our kitchen floor and the shop has been closed since early January.

The short version is that my insurance has denied the claim and we are fighting them but in the meantime, staff has had 6 weeks without work. This fundraiser is for them (not for me). I’m just trying to do anything I can to help them!

The details:

A team member stepped near the sink and their foot went right through the floor. Luckily no one was hurt, but the damage was pretty extensive to our kitchen floor due to a long-term leak that we knew nothing about. It was leaking inside the wall And we never saw any evidence of it. Anyway all of this has resulted in us being closed for six weeks. Here’s the problem… I have business interruption insurance. I filed a claim, and things were progressing along smoothly, or so I thought. Today the insurance company has announced that because the damage was long-term they are denying my claim. Obviously I’m going to fight this but it’s going to take some time. In the meantime my whole team has no income. I have 18 full time team members, and they all have families. We were counting on this insurance money to be able to pay payroll salaries since we have no income ourselves when the business is closed.

Here’s where you come in… Many, many people have asked what they can do to help. I’ve decided to set up a GoFundMe for the staff. This is not for me, this is for the staff of You Need Pie who takes care of you on a daily basis. These are good, honest hard-working people who I love, and who work every day to make my life easier and create the delicious food and bakery items that you all enjoy. I’d imagine most people in Estes Park are in the same boat that if you suddenly had to do without income for six weeks, it wouldn’t be pretty. I would love to be able to give each of them $1000 towards their expenses since they will not be getting a paycheck during this time. It’s so hard because this is an unavoidable and very unexpected situation. I wish I was made of money and could just pay everyone during this time but unfortunately, that is not the case.
