Help Sr. Jaime recover

Last weekend, our beloved Ramón Jaime was involved in a tragic car accident. Unfortunately, Ramón was struck by a hit-and-run driver while changing his tire in Tijuana Thursday night, February 17th. Due to the kindness of some good Samaritans, Ramón was rushed to the hospital and stabilized before he was moved to the trauma ICU of UCSD in Hillcrest. He is currently in stable condition and not showing severe brain trauma but has sustained severe injuries. He suffered broken vertebrae and neck trauma, and a fractured leg. His wife and daughter are with him, receiving personalized, excellent care. The road to recovery will be long and arduous, and Ramon needs lots of prayer and support right now. Nevertheless, the reality is that Ramon's family will have to make significant changes to their lives and their home to best support Ramon. It's hard to say at this moment, but there is a chance that he will be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and will need lots of therapy moving forward.

 

We are reaching out to our friends, family and community to please share this information with those who know Sr. Jaime. Ramón has been teaching at San Pasqual High School for 18 years; therefore, he is part of our SPHS family, and we love him so much. He is a fantastic teacher who cares wholeheartedly for his students, and they do him as well. He is kind, gentle, funny, and one of the best people to work with! Let's come together to support him and his family in this time of need. Thank you so much for your support.

El pasado fin de semana, nuestro querido Ramón Jaime sufrió un trágico accidente automovilístico. Desafortunadamente, Ramón fue atropellado por un conductor que se dio a la fuga mientras cambiaba su llanta en Tijuana, la noche del jueves 17 de febrero. Gracias a la amabilidad de algunos buenos samaritanos, Ramón fue trasladado de urgencia al hospital y fue estabilizado antes de ser trasladado a la UCI de trauma de UCSD en Hillcrest. Actualmente se encuentra en condición estable y no muestra un traumatismo craneoencefálico grave, pero ha sufrido lesiones graves. Sostuvo rupturas en varias vértebras, traumatismo en el cuello, y tiene una pierna fracturada. Su esposa e hija están con él, recibiendo una excelente atención personalizada. Su camino hacia la recuperación será largo y arduo, y Ramón necesita mucha oración y apoyo en este momento. Sin embargo, la realidad es que la familia de Ramón tendrá que hacer cambios significativos en sus vidas y en su hogar para apoyar mejor a Ramón. Es difícil decirlo en este momento, pero existe la posibilidad de que Ramón esté en una silla de ruedas por el resto de su vida y necesite mucha terapia para seguir adelante.
