Hi there. First of all, thanks for your attention. I'm Daniel Corgnati and today I want to tell you Sr. Enmundo's story.
He, like many of his generation, was a hard worker who had to emigrate out of his native island, La Palma (Canary Island-Spain) to England back in the 60s. He worked very hard, he helped his family, built their house and then his mechanical car workshop. Today, Mr. Enmundo is 70 years old, and he lost everything, and that is why I want to try to make his story known and see if together, we can find the way to help him to have a new start at the age of 70.
About 2 months ago, before the volcanic eruption, the island of La Palma suffered a great fire that affected lands and houses within the towns of El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane. A disaster fire throw the urban population; This good man basically lost everything in that fire, his house, his mechanical workshop, his animals, his memories, his savings and other personal assets, his life was also at risk when the fire cornered him and his son inside the workshop when they tried to save their goods from the fire that came as a surprise to them. They both suffered first degree burns. For his wife who was inside the house, it was very difficult to leave the property due to a previous problem with one of her legs, neighbors helped her. A total tragedy.
His home and his workshop were the only affected properties in his neighborhood, and he was clearly one if the most damaged person in that fire.
A very sad situation that touched him and many other families on the island, but his story is worth helping, and it is what I am going to try today.
In my opinion, it's always hard to start over again. Usually young people have a better chance, but when it comes to adult people it is more complicated, difficult to get help and very hard for them to ask for that help.
I am convinced that we should give him the opportunity to have a new beginning, at least help him to start with the basic parts of his house, which allows to Enmundo and his family to have a roof and return to his neighborhood.
I am asking for 12.000 € for him. With that mount he is planning to start with the internals walls and some concret work, windows and doors. That's the only thing he needs to start a new life.
