Help Sophia Fight Cancer

Sophia is a beautiful 10-year-old girl who attends elementary school in Timmins.  She loves drawing and reading and is really interested in dragons.  Sophia is her family’s only daughter; she lives in Timmins, Ontario and travels to Indonesia every summer with her mom.  In the summer of 2017, Sophia’s family decided to buy a house to give Sophia the proper space to play and enjoy her childhood.  They found their dream home in Timmins and signed the papers just before going on vacation to Indonesia.  They were looking forward to coming back to the new house this year while the father was getting it ready for them.  A week before she was coming back, she started developing a fever.  They thought it was a regular cold and was on antibiotics but the fever didn’t seem to go away.  When they got back to Toronto they took her to Sick Kids Hospital to give her proper treatment before they head back to Timmins for the new school year.  They were struck with the news that she has leukemia!  They found themselves living in the hospital starting chemotherapy right away.  They learned that she will have to miss the school year, stay in Toronto for much longer than they thought and she won’t be able to travel anywhere for at least two years.  The father has to go back to work in Timmins while the mom and Sophia have to stay in Toronto.  After a week of treatment, they found new mature cells in her blood and they started another treatment.  Sophia already misses her friends at school, she is sad that she won't be able to see her new home anytime soon and she is getting frustrated from the pain of treatment.

I'm Ola Zeidan from Timmins, Ontario.  My friends and I initiated this campaign for Sophia and her family to be able to help them out as much as they helped everyone who needed them.  Sophia's mom is a really good friend of ours and we became almost like family in the past few months.  She took care of my own kids when I needed help.  The cost of treatment, traveling back and forth and living in both Toronto and Timmins will be costly for them.  This campaign is a small gesture to show them how much they mean to us.  

The funds will be used towards travel expenses, paying for their stay in Toronto, Food, and Medication for at least the next 6 months.  I will deliver the money to them in person on my next trip to Toronto.
