Help Sonda D. Hamilton Fight Cancer

Over 20 years ago, Sonda battled and beat cancer. In the last 4 years, she has had to battle another form of cancer, Papillary Thyroid Cancer, and needs a third surgery.
Sonda is one of the most outgoing, hardworking, and loving person I have met. She has a passion for serving others and being there for them when it is needed the most. All who knows her, are inspired by her kind and giving spirit, as well as her positive outlook. The greatest joy in her life is her family, best friend (her mother), three rescue dogs, and faith in Jesus Christ.
In her free time, she volunteers helping people, enjoys watching the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Dallas Cowboys, and loves the great outdoors. With her active involvement in animal rescues, she has found homes for 10 animals within this past year. She has a Never Give Up attitude and with your help, she can beat cancer again.
In 2013, she was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer, which required immediate surgery. She had her first surgery on June 19, 2013 to remove her thyroid. She was told not to do any heavy lifting for the next 3 months after the surgery for the healing process. Unfortunately, she went back to work after 3 weeks to cover her medical and living expenses.
After several follow up visits with her doctors at MD Anderson, her endocrinologists informed her the cancer is still present. The cancer spread to the lymph nodes in the neck and she had her second surgery on November 20, 2014. After a 2.5 hour surgery, they removed over 40 nodules in the neck. In addition to this, they removed a tumor they found behind her voice box.
They have removed the cancer; however, the follow up visits and additional tests in the following months, confirmed Sonda still has cancer. She will have to undergo a third surgery. The cancer is located near the carotid artery.
In June of 2016, she could not afford to keep her health insurance after the premiums went up 200% and was canceled. As a result, she had to cancel her doctor’s visit for June of 2017 because she could not make the payment.
Through all the challenges she has had to go through in the last 4 years, she continues to stay positive and fight.
