HELP SICK LEAVE BUY A BIG OLD PRINTER

Hey there, do you love to support the arts? do you love fancy little pamphlets? paper? ink?

We at Sick Leave are looking to buy a "cabinet of type" and an "Adana 8x5" press which has recently come up for sale. Were we to own these two old and beautiful things, we would have the power to print all those currently-unprintable masterpieces, mistakes, junk and gossip---- in our very own backyard.

We love paper and books and booklets and owning a press is an invitation for experimenting and sharing those experiments with readers. We believe not so much in the power of the written word as the joy of little objects. The Australian publishing landscape is in dire need of some more SMALL stuff, it's getting too big out there.

Owning capital equipment like an inconveniently large and slow press means we are in it for the long haul. We will print and print and print until there's no tomorrow. Why not? The literary landscape is crowded with some pretty good stuff sometimes but we argue that we deserve a piece of the pie to publish stuff WE like, and find readers for writers, and money for writers, WE like...

Please do chuck in a small or large donation. We will throw good parties and be nice to you and yours, sell elegant 'books' and things, and celebrate with you the thing we love called literature.
