Medical and life expenses for Sherry's family

Donation protected
On February 25th, 2022, Sherry was going to a follow-up appointment with her cardiologist. After meeting with her doctor, she started to head back home with a game plan to address the issues she came in for. I received a text from her at 9:24 am that she was waiting on her ride to come back home.

At 10:32 am, I received a phone call that she had suffered cardiac arrest just before starting her way home, and she was rushed to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. CPR was performed, and her heartbeat was restored, but unfortunately, this process took 30 minutes.

After CPR was administered by medical staff, Sherry was admitted into the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). First, doctors and nurses needed to assess any injury that Sherry's brain may have sustained. Then, over the next few days, doctors ran multiple tests to show her brain activity, map activity to her brain through electrical impulses, and see if she could respond.

These tests indicated that cardiac arrest and prolonged CPR restoration had caused severe, irreversible brain damage. The doctors concluded that the outlook with the type of brain damage she suffered is not good, and my mother now only has very little time left to live.

Sherry was a beautiful human being, inside and out, who loved God dearly. She reflected that love to every single life she touched and was genuinely known as a gentle soul who could light up the room in an instant. Any event, party, visits made to family, and gatherings were all so much more enlightened with her present in those activities. Her personality was very lighthearted, compassionate, and she had the best sense of humor. She could make you laugh in an instant. She was a rock to so many people, with her incredible ability to support others and be a shoulder to lean on when anyone needed it, despite her own struggles with mental health. You were always fed well, and you always had a place to stay if and when you needed it. Sherry has always put the needs of others far above her own.

My mother means the world to me, my sister, the rest of our family, and everyone that knew her. I want to do everything to honor her wishes, as she has done so many times for my family and me. We are completely shocked by this sudden, horrifying, and tragic event. We are left forever with huge holes in our hearts.

I created this fundraiser with approval from the rest of our family. All donations will go directly towards covering the final expenses associated with her stay at the hospital and the pending funeral arrangements, and any other expenses as they come up to help support the family.

My family and I sincerely appreciate the time you spent reading this post, praying for Sherry and her family, and supporting her children and her family during these very challenging times. Thank you.
