Help Shelly kick Leukemia’s Ass

A little note from Shelly

Hi there,

My name is Michelle Le dan and I live in Murwillumbah, NSW, 2484.

My husband David an I have a 16yr old son Daniel, and a 14yr old daughter Chloe.

On the 29th May 2021 I presented to the Murwillumbah Hospital with intense lower back pain and an infected boil, after blood tests were done and they liased with haematologists in Tweed and Lismore I was sent off to the Gold Coast University Hospital via ambulance for urgent treatment.

I have been undergoing treatment since then for a very rare type of leukemia which is known as biphenotipic acute leukaemia or BAL. It is one of 2-5% of the rare types.

This disease not only effects the blood, but also the bones. Also known as lymphoid or myloid cancer.

For me to overcome this illness I require a lot of treatment at the Gold Coast University Hospital which I am undergoing currently.

I am also required to be admitted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital to undergo  a stem cell transplant if I am to survive past the next 6-12 months.

This transplant will take place in the hospital and I will receive treatment for about 3 weeks, and once the treatment has finished I will then require a 24/7 carer whilst staying at the Leukaemia Foundation quarters, which is very close to the hospital, in case I get a fever or feel unwell.

To have a 24/7 carer as required I have roughly estimated that it will cost anywhere up to, and in excess of

$170.000 for the 3 month period.

It is extremely important to me

to know that I not only have  volunteer support from family and friends to help out when necessary, but to also know that I have an option to rely on a carer if/when required should no one be available to help at any time.

It is also really important for me to know that my husband can keep working to support our family and that our children can keep going to school and sport through this whole process.

If you would like to be part of my volunteer care team please email me on  [email redacted] and I will add you to the roster.

Once the roster is done I will email the appropriate times back to all involved.

If you are able to help please like, share, and donate as little or as much as you are able.

It has been really hard for me at this point in time to reach out and ask for help, so I would like to personally thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and let you know that I really do appreciate any help big or small ❤️

Any unused funds raised will be donated straight back to the Leukaemia Foundation.

Lots of love from

❤️❤️❤️❤️

Michelle and David, Daniel & Chloe.

Now a little note from US.

We have set this go fund me page up for my Auntie, daughter, sister and friend who we love very much. As much as we all would love to be able to help, sometimes we need extra help from our wonderful community. This has been a huge shock to everyone involved and we have all been trying very hard to support Shelly and her young family through this difficult time but as everyone I’m sure that has been touched by a family member with cancer this can be a long and costly fight that brings financial stress as well as emotional stress to everyone involved especially the person who is going through this horrible illness.

We as a family are doing all we can whether that’s personal time or helping with costs in certain ways but we as a whole recognize that we need to ask for help.

so please share or Donate as little or as much as you can so we can take a little stress of for awhile and get Shelly back to her children so she can continue to be the wonderful hands on mummy that she has always been.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help big or small we will be forever grateful. ❤️❤️❤️
