Help Sequoia & Boys Recover from Winter Storm Uri

My name is Sequoia  Phillips, single mother of two, King (12) my type 1 savage and Justice (6) my dancing star, and our lovable family dog Peanut. As many of you may know, Texas was recently hit with Winter Storm Uri causing many Texas residents to go without power and water for over 36 hours. After spending hours in my freezing home (40 degrees), I decided to find a warm shelter for my boys and me.  After days of being away from our home, I was overly excited to discover my power was back on and immediately rushed home. As soon I opened the front door to our home, my heart sunk. I couldn’t believe what was in front of my eye. My entire kitchen ceiling had collapsed, my floor and and carpet had become a small pond. Our game room was almost unrecognizable as nearly the entire ceiling had fallen. This was only the beginning of my nightmare. I go upstairs to find even more devastation. The ceiling in my older son’s bedroom completely collapsed, as well as, the ceiling in my younger son’s closet causing water damage to their beds, bedroom furniture, clothes, books, toys (many unopened from this past Christmas). At this point it is no longer safe for us to stay in our home and, I am currently seeking short term shelter while our home is rebuilt.

The home that I built for my boys and I is no longer a home. I ask that you help us while we begin our journey of rebuilding our home/lives.
