Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie Phillips and I'm a senior at Roosevelt High School in Seattle. Recently I've been selected to represent USA on the U20 Women's National Team at WJUC (World Junior Ultimate Championships).
I fell in love with frisbee because it is able to value competitiveness while still valuing the respect for ones opponent. The importance of spirit of the game has not only taught me how to be a better player and competitor but has also contributed to my growth as a person off the field.
I was first introduced to frisbee in elementary school and then continued to play at Hamilton International Middle School and now at my high school, Roosevelt. Along with my school teams, I've had amazing opportunities to play club around the area. I was lucky to have been apart of the Fryz program, playing on the Mixed and Girls team. I've played on the Seven Hills red team and I've also played 4 years of YCC, mostly involved with the U20 Mixed program. Last summer, our team Bankroll placed 2nd at the national tournament. This last year I was also selected to play on a women's club team, Seattle Underground. With Underground and other programs I've been apart of, I've been able to play alongside some of the best and it has pushed me to become a better player and a better person. I've also had the opportunity to coach middle schoolers at summer camps and at Hamilton during the fall season. These kids inspire me everyday. I've loved being apart of the Seattle frisbee community, surrounded by tons of talented athletes and great people, while also seeing many of my role models from the area get to represent USA with this same amazing opportunity.
It's always been a goal of mine to make this team and I am still in awe that this is all real. I am so excited to do this crazy thing with my awesome teammates.
However from travel, to training camps, to the player fees, there are many costs to cover and any donation or sharing of this page is greatly appreciated. In addition to the gofundme, I will be working over the summer to help pay for this experience. Thank you to all my friends and family for your constant support. I hope to make you all proud at Worlds this summer!
