Help send Me to Austria

My name is Liliana Scacheri, and at the age of 18 my dream of competing internationally for Rockclimbing has final become reality, competing at the World Youth Championships in Innsbruck,  Austria, in August/September. I am so excited to be competiting in both Lead climbing and Bouldering at this event. This is not only my first international climbing event but also the first time I will go overseas, giving me so many oppotunities for my climbing. 

I have been competing and seriously training for just about 6 years now but climbing for many more, whether it be a fortnightly visit to my local gym or climbing anything in sight. In the past I have tried out 3 times to get into the Australian Youth Climbing team and I have been knocked back every time. These experiences have forced me to grow stronger and more determined to achieve my goals. Each year I have trained harder and climbed harder, making podium for all but one of the 11 national competitions I have participated in, taking out 4 Gold medals, 4 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. The trial process has been tough and at many times I doubted myself, but through the support of my community, family and friends I have only grown stronger as a person and a climber.

I know that this competition will open my eyes to a new world of climbing, it will help me come to the realisation that my strength is not limited to my age or gender.  This jump in my life would not be possible without the amazing people around me and I know that I won't be able to make this trip happen by myself. Climbing is my passion in life and this trip will be one of realisation and motivation, pushing me to become the best climber I can be.
