Please Help Send John Back To Liberia!

At a young age I was adopted from Monrovia, Liberia by my parents Darin and Angela Waller. Growing up in Liberia was difficult, challenging, and unimaginable. I was poor, starving, and wasn’t able go to school. At the age of 11, I finally told myself I needed to seek help. Immediately, the U.S. Embassy was the place that came to my mind, the next day I walked more than 12 hours to reach the U.S. Embassy. With only a letter of hope and by the grace of God I made it there. On my way there I became very exhausted and every part of me wanted to stop, but God pushed me to continue. Amazing as I arrived, A green Jeep pulled up in front of me. There was a driver in the front seat that I handed my letter to, I asked him if he would share my letter with the women that he drove to the U.S. Embassy. In my letter I wrote down my struggles, my hopes, and dreams that someday I would be able to go to school.

As I waited in hopes that they will read my letter the women called me over, that women was Patty Anglin, The Executive Director of Acres of Hope. Patty told me to come see her the next day at her compound, little did I know that my parents were sitting in the back seat of the car and they also read my letter. The next day I went to see Patty. This is where I had the opportunity to meet my adopted parents Darin and Angela Waller for the first time without knowing they would be adopting me. Before I was adopted my parents sponsored me and paid for my schooling while I was still in Liberia. I stayed at Acres of Hope with Patty until I was adopted in 2006. The day I stepped on the plane to come to the United States I had this feeling of hope that I had searched for. As I left my family behind in Liberia I knew that by coming to the United States I would be able to get a great education and one day go back and help those that are still struggling.

After graduating from Michigan State University on May 5th, 2018, with a degree in Political Science International Relations, I decided that this would be a good time to return to Liberia to visit my family after 13 years. With creating this page, I hope to be able to fund for my trip back to Liberia and see my family and my biological father who is terminally ill. My goal is to also help the kids that are still living at the Orphanage that I used to live in. I would like to help by providing generators to provide electricity, bags of rice, and clothes. This fundraiser will help pay for my round trip ticket to Liberia. I will also be buying soccer balls and cleats for the kids at Acres of Hope Orphanage. As well as help people who are less fortunate, especially those who are still struggling and living without food day in and day out. This trip will allow me to be able to see my family again after 13 years, as well as help them with other basic needs. My goal is to leave for Liberia in December 2019. Please help me reach my goal. Thank you for your support. God bless!
