Hello!
My name is Hazel Ostrowski and I am currently a freshman at Tufts University in Boston, MA. As many of you probably know, I have been playing ultimate frisbee since I was in sixth grade at Asa Mercer Middle School in South Seattle. This past week, I was selected as a member of the U20 National team that will travel to Malmö, Sweden to compete at the World Junior Ultimate Championships this July!
Frisbee has been one of my greatest passions since I first started playing. Since then, I have been fortunate to gain high-level experience: winning titles with Franklin High School, DiscNW Bankroll, and Team USA in 2018. This year will be particularly exciting for me because I will be a returner on the roster. It will also be my first time traveling overseas! Two years ago, playing for Team USA was an incredibly rewarding experience. Not only did we win a world title (!), but I also gained elite experience and developed skills that have helped me pursue frisbee at higher levels. This past year I played for Seattle Mixtape and also Seattle’s first Women’s professional Ultimate team, The Cascades!
The expected cost of Worlds this year is $3200-4600, which includes expenses for training camps, room & board, and travel. As my family is helping to pay for my college right now, this is an expense they are not able to assist with.
