Hi everyone!
I've been selected to represent California State University, Long Beach in Ghana and Tanzania during the Summer of 2021 with 3GC, and I would be so thankful if you helped me get there.
3GC is a non profit organization whose goal is to engage students of color, especially those of African descent, in international service learning and cultural immersion. The organization has existed for 10 years come 2021 and has partnerships with over 12 universities across the country, along with the University of Ghana and University of Cape Coast.
The trip will consist of 11 days in Ghana and 7 days in Tanzania. During my time in Africa, I will have the opportunity to teach a Storytelling/Creative Writing/Artistic Expression workshop at The University of Ghana. This experience will be of such terrific value to me as I hope to one day be a college professor. I will also be able to explore places where over 100,000 Africans were captured, imprisoned, and enslaved from the 15th -19th century. I am of 1/4 African descent, and although I anticipate this portion of the trip to be emotionally difficult, I look forward to returning to Africa and having the opportunity to connect with my ancestors.
I know that these are not easy times for anyone, but I humbly ask you to consider donating to my trip. Your donation while go toward covering:
