Help Send A Friend To A Senior

Donation protected
Hey there! I'm Dena. I'm raising funds for my North Texas company, YGAF, Inc. YGAF stands for "You've Got A Friend." I know there is at least one other meaning for that set of initials out there on the internet, but this just seemed to fit perfectly for what I wanted my company to stand for and so I decided to use it anyway. After all, YGAF, Inc., is a company that helps mature people earn extra income by helping others. And we call our workers "Friends," because they are Friends.

As a mature adult (fancy way of letting folks know I'm old) who has suffered from some health issues over the last few years, I recently realized I won't be able to work forever. I've seen mature co-workers, some older than I, struggling with two or more jobs just to make ends meet. And the work they're doing is gig-work that's not fun, is sometimes taxing on their bodies, destroys their vehicles or is outright dangerous for an older individual to be doing! Even my own parents, who are well into their seventies, are working still and barely scraping by. So how, I wondered, can I protect myself (and my loved ones who are in the same boat) from ending up either homeless or worse?

So I got to thinking... with so many people, particularly more mature folks needing some way to earn extra money to make ends meet, couldn't someone come up with a company that could help? And then lightening struck!

In the literary world, they say write what you know. Well, as an older person, I know there are an awful lot of seniors out there in assisted living facilities or in senior living communities who feel like they've lost almost everything and everyone they've ever known. They spend most of their time alone and may not get to see their loved ones except on holidays - if then. It's not the fault of the family members that they are busy with their own lives or who may live far from their loved one and cannot fathom the loneliness that seniors feel. Times are tough and everyone is struggling to survive. But when a new Friend stops by to visit with the senior, read a book to them or to take a walk with them down the hall, at the gym, or on the facility grounds, that sense of loneliness or abandonment is eased. And who better to visit with them than other mature people?

So YGAF, Inc., creates opportunities for mature adults to earn extra income by visiting with, reading to, or walking with those lonely seniors who sometimes feel abandoned. The goal of this fundraiser is to enable YGAF, Inc., to hold at least one hundred appointments at local assisted living facilities and senior living communities. That potentially helps one hundred lonely seniors to feel that they still matter and it also allows a good many financially struggling seniors to earn some extra income by helping their peers without requiring them to be put in danger or to do physically-taxing work.

The funds raised here will be used to set appointments for at least one hundred seniors who live in local assisted living facilities and senior living communities to have a visit with one of our Step Friends or Book Friends for either a 1/2 hour or a full hour. Each of our Friends will wear a “You’ve Got A Friend” t-shirt purchased with the generous donations from this campaign for each appointment. The Friends who work the appointments will receive $20 per half hour appointment worked (with an hour long appointment paying $40 per appointment). The remaining amount of the cost of each appointment goes toward the administrative costs (insurance, website maintenance, background checks, marketing, cpa and payroll processing through a payroll processor to ensure adherence to all payroll laws).

Won't you donate today to help in this worthy endeavor? After all, we're all headed there someday and I think everyone would feel a lot better about that eventuality knowing that when that day comes, there will be a Friend there to see them through it.

YGAF, Inc., is not a healthcare company, but a well-being company. Our Friends are fully-vetted and the company is insured, offering COIs (Certificates of Insurance) to each facility where we work while helping one mature individual at a time to recover their sense of self-worth and belonging throughout their remaining days.
