Help protect our rescued animals during COVID-19

Donation protected
As the COVID-19 pandemic is among us, life as usual may have stopped, but illegal wildlife trade and poaching have not. The Limbe Wildlife Centre, situated right here in Limbe, Cameroon, needs your help in this unruly time, not only to survive, but to keep our conservation and protection efforts going.

The Limbe Wildlife Centre is a sanctuary, that has been rescuing animals from the illegal wildlife trade and offers them a second chance at life, since 1993. Through rescue and rehabilitation, educational initiatives and community programmes, we are working to conserve Cameroon’s unique wildlife heritage. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing everyone into isolation, our jobs have just gotten much harder.

A significant part of our income comes from the volunteers, who graciously come to the centre and help us care for our animals in rehabilitation, as well as the visitors who come to admire the work we do. With the global travel bans, these incomes have been completely shut down and we now rely on donations to keep the operation going.

The survival of our centre and our wildlife are also of great significance to the surrounding community because our green project gives the locals the opportunity to earn an income by harvesting plant material that will feed our animals.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated and is of vital importance to continuously care for our 450 animals. These funds will be used to feed the animals, provide the needed medical attention, sustain our active projects and to support our staff, who continue to work harder now than ever, despite the consequences.

On the behalf of the Limbe Wildlife Centre and all our rescues, we thank you for you ongoing support!

Rehabilitation  success!

The Limbe Wildlife Centre often rescues animals who are kept in terrible conditions from the illegal wildlife trade, and gives them another chance at a happier life.

Our team is always hard at work to construct and maintain the best living conditions, enclosures and enrichment structures for our animals .

The Saturday nature club and school outreaches for part of our education programme, in which we teach kids about the importance of conserving Cameroons wildlife .

We are grateful for Reuters UK who came to film at the LWC to show how we are coping with the Covid-19 crisis. They highlighted some of the ways we are protecting our rescued primates and interviewed Pandrillus Country Director Guillaume Le Flohic about how urgent the situation is as we are currently struggling with a $100,000 deficit and only have enough funds for the next 3 months due to the loss of vital funding from international organisations.

We are infinitely grateful for all donations, as we truly urgently need your help!
