Help Save The Highland Cows

Donation protected
UPDATE:
Unfortunately, the farmer has told me that he doesn't actually want to sell me the girls, Sweetie, Honey and Frizzi. I'm devastated and heartbroken. He does however still wish to sell me the boys, Chunky and Curly.
The fundraising target has now been changed to enough for just the two boys.
I hope that everyone that donated is okay with this. I'm so sorry to bring bad news.

Please, if you can, help Chunky, Curly, Sweetie, Honey and Frizzi become the newest residents of Hillside Animal Sanctuary and escape slaughter.

Over a year ago, I noticed that down the road from my house were a bunch of beautiful Highland Cows.  Being that I love cows, we decided to drive over to see them. At first I would just stand at the gate, looking at the big, fluffy, ginger cows sitting at the top of their hill. The biggest girl, Honey, who sat surrounded by the others, who were smaller at the time, began to curiously, but timidly, approach me, the smaller cows plodding slowy behind her. They came within a few feet of me, but daren't come any closer. As I visited them more and more, they became quite comfortable with me, and a really great friendship began.

Now, a year later, the cows come running to us! As soon as they hear the sound of our car coming up round the corner, they come moo'ing and galloping down from their hill.
The cows are now my best friends. They're the sweetest, most gentle and trusting animals i've ever known. They never fail to bring me so much joy, and I can't believe how lucky I am to have such a great relationship with them.

I managed to get a clip of three of them running down to us, you can see how excited they are!

However, these beautiful, loving, excitable, gentle, caring cows are being raised for their meat, and will be forced onto a truck, and shipped away to their deaths. Terrified, they will be killed, packaged, and sent off to a supermarket for someone to eat.
The thought of someone eating my beautiful friends makes me feel sick.
Everytime we visit the cows, I get a sick feeling in my stomach that they won't be there, that they'll have gone to be killed.  I panic everytime we pull around the corner to their field and I don't immediately see them standing there, waiting for me. They always are, but I just couldn't stop thinking that one day, they wouldn't be, and that terrified me. I couldn't bear thinking about them in a slaughterhouse, and eventually in someone's stomach.

One evening, after seeing the cows, I was feeling very upset about the fact that they were going to meet such a dreadful end. I started thinking that maybe I could do something to save them, which seemed crazy at the time. How on earth could I save five cows from slaughter?  Then, I remembered Hillside Animal Sanctuary, a sanctuary that takes in rescued farm animals. I immediately sent them an email, asking for their advice, to see if there would possibly be anything at all I could do to save these extraordinary cows, and amazingly, they offered to give the cows a home at their sanctuary if I could get the funds to purchase them!
I was able to contact the farmer that owns the cows, and he said he would sell them to me if I could get the funds. I was over the moon. I can't describe how happy I was.

So, I decided to create a fundraiser, because I know there are many other caring, generous people that know the horrors of slaughterhouses and would be willing to help me save these beautiful animals and let them live their lives out in a sanctuary.

These cows mean the absolute world to me. I love these cows just like people love their dogs or cats.

Please, if you have anything you could give, I would be so, so grateful for your donations. The money will pay for all five cows to be bought, and for them to be transported to Hillside Animal Sanctuary.

Meet the Cows!

Honey:
Honey is the first of the cows that I met. She was the first one to approach me, and to take a carrot from me. She's a strong, brave, but very loving cow. When feeding Honey her carrots, if she drops one, she gets all embarassed and refuses to take any more!

Sweetie:
Sweetie is definitely the sweetest of the cows. She's a little girl, the last to become comfortable around me as she's so shy. But now, as you can see, she's just as confident as the rest! She's so gentle, when I bring carrots for them all, she waits so patiently for hers and never jostles with the others. She is usually the first to come running when she sees me. I think she may be the youngest of the group.

Chunky
Chunky is one of the two boys. He's very confident and loves to play fight with the other boy, Curly! Although he doesn't like to share his carrots, he's so gentle and patient with me, and has a very soft side!

Curly (left) and Sweetie (right):
Curly is the attention lover! He's extremely trusting and loves a good neck scratch and is definitely the greediest of them all when it comes to carrots. He's also very confident. The two boys (Curly and Chunky) are always the ones that moo and make a racket when I leave, which is really sweet.

Chunky (left) and last but of course not least, Frizzi (right):
Frizzi is kind of the leader, I would say! Her horns are large and have a beautiful curled look at the tips, she's definitely a very beautiful cow. She can be a bit of a moody girl sometimes, but it all adds to her personality. Like the others, she's very gentle and sweet, and is always one of the first to come running following Sweetie.

If you took the time to read this, thank you so much, and if you're so kind as to donate, me and the cows are forever grateful.

Thank you so much to Hillside Animal Sanctuary, and to Wendy, for making this possible.
