Help Save Our Canine Rescue Sanctury

We desperately need your help.

Maz’s canine rescue charity is dedicated to rescuing and saving abandoned and abused dogs and cats in Spain. Built on a community of animal loving volunteers, we strongly believe that no healthy animal should be put to sleep. We work to find suitable homes for the dogs and cats in our care and have links outside of Spain that allow us to rehome our dogs both within Spain and overseas.

Unfortunately, the sanctuary is under threat, and we desperately need your help because we cannot give up on the animals that need our care.

We have been given notice to leave the kennels that provide the sanctuary to the animals we care for by the end of May 2023. The landlady wants the land back for a private project and this leaves us with no kennels.

We had been waiting for a committee member’s house in the UK to sell. Once sold she was then going to buy a farm with land and the plan was to use this land and build kennels for the animals. Unfortunately, this plan has not come to fruition as the house has not sold.

We have a duty of care to protect all of the dogs that we support at the kennels and as a sanctuary we ensure that any dog taken in is given a safe haven for life.

We have discussed all possibilities and we feel moving our dogs to another rescue would more than likely mean that our dogs would be euthanised after assessment and we cannot allow this to happen.

The dogs in our sanctuary have unfortunately been overlooked through no fault of their own because of their age, breed and time spent at the kennels. This does not mean that we will ever give up on them.

Whilst the search for someone with rural land who may be able to support the charity continues and even discussions with the mayor of Tijola are taking place. We ideally would like to buy land so that the sanctuary can continue its hard work and more importantly, keep the dogs that we care for safe.

We’ve found a property that would be perfect to carry out the work we do to protect and care for the animals. However, we’ve exhausted ways to fund it. We need to raise €100,000 and the stress we are all feeling is unimaginable because we do not want to abandon or give up on our dogs.

We need your help, to save our dogs and future dogs that need us. Who will care for these dogs if we don’t exist anymore? Who will take them to the vets? Who will feed them? Who will give love and a roof over their heads? Who will ensure they are no longer tied up or beaten? We truly are desperate.
