Help Save Northport Fish & Lobster Co. Eric Gusew

Hi my name is Jake Gusew, my father Eric Gusew who has lovingly owned and operated Northport Fish & Lobster for 35 years, and has been a staple in the Northport Community, needs your help. If you've ever been to Northport Fish & Lobster you will notice that the building is an authentic 1927 Sears Kit Home, previously lived in by Ms. Oliva who married and raised a family in the house, and ran a Texaco gas station out of the building. The building has been functioning for almost 100 years, and now it needs crucial upgrades to conform to Northport Village Standards. We are now faced will all sorts of problems of bringing the store up to todays building standards and codes so that we can help better serve the community for another 35 years.

Northport Mayor Damon McMullen and his support staff have been nothing but professional in trying to help solve the problems. The Suffolk County Supreme Court has issues a temporary closure of Northport Fish & Lobster, and no one is allowed on the property, which caused us to lose $18,000 worth of product and much more in sales. We unfortunately do not have the means to correct everything all at once, and have been doing it on a short budget. The store has been closed for 3 weeks during some of our busiest holidays, if we miss the 4th of July, that could be downfall of Northport Fish & Lobster, this is why we are asking the community for help.

My dad has not been at the shop for a little over a year due to a back surgery and the resulting difficulties. He still has trouble standing for extended periods of time, so he is managing the business from home and is heartbroken that he can not be in the store and see his customers, which he truly misses.

The money from this fund raiser will be used to bring Northport Fish & Lobster up to code, pay legal fees resulting from the building violations, and help Eric recover his health.
