Help Save Nesbit's Bowling Alley

Donation protected

Where: Nesbit Lanes, Plum PA
When: January 28, 2021

Subject: Rich's story...

I first met my friend, Rich, in 1986.  I was in a couple's league with my parents.  It was the first time I ever bowled at Nesbit Lanes.

Fast-Forward...

A mutual friend told me about Rich's situation.

It's not good.

Because of Covid, the lanes are down over 350 bowlers per week.

Leagues keep cancelling.

Rich has already borrowed well over $200,000 to stay afloat.

Between now and September, he stands to lose another $100,000.  Or more.

Nesbit's Lanes has been owned and operated by the Nesbit family since 1947.

It's become my favorite place to bowl.  I have gotten to know Rich very well over the last 8 years.  We have become good friends.

Rich is one of the most generous people I know.  He never expects anything in return.   I know that Rich is the kind of guy that's not looking for a handout, but it would be a tragic loss to the Plum community - and surrounding communities - if this bowling alley would end up closing due to Covid-19.

If the lanes are losing 300-350 bowlers a week - even at $10 a bowler -  Nesbit's is losing $3500 a week, or over $14,000 a month in revenue.

With more bowlers feeling uneasy with Covid, Rich has lost even more bowlers as of last week.

I would like to see if we can help Nesbit's Lanes with his everyday bills that are piling up.  I would like to have a place to bowl that has a friendly atmosphere with great people - for me an all the junior bowlers and teens in the community who spend their time there.  He never charges young kids because he loves the sport of bowling, and wants to see it grow.

Let's see if we can get Rich through August.

Join me with whatever you think you can give.

Thanks a lot,

Dave Poremba.

Rich has always supported the Plum community, police, fire department and families.

Ricky Brunori, former PBA tour pro, is one of the people who inspired this idea for the fundraiser.  Ricky bowls in the Thursday night trio league at Nesbit's with me.

Sam Cooper is one of the bowlers who's on my team and been part of Plum bowling almost 10 years.

Barrett Raabe started out working for Rich when he was young.  He's part of the Thursday night trio league.

Jim Petzel is another member of the Nesbit community who inspired the idea for this fundraiser, and who said he will help spread the word.

This is the Nesbit parking lot last fall.  It would usually be full.

We hope to turn the page and fill up this parking lot by next summer.

Rich has been a huge supporter of the essential front-line workers during this entire pandemic.  He's helped local nursing homes, grocery stores and Plum police right from the start.

Thank you in advance.

Even pitching in $1 would help!
