Treatment for Laurie Scarborough

Donation protected
My Wife Laurie contracted Acute Myloid Leukaemia in 2010 and finally received a bone marrow transplant in July of 2011 in Toronto. After that, she had many hurdles to cross and has had many many bouts of Graft vs Host disease. This causes all sorts of issues from the mucosa of the mouth to the gut, as these cells constantly and frequently are being replaced and regenerated. This past July however, the latest bout, has been a difficult one as her body has not responded to the normal course of medications. She also has been fighting Rhumitoid arthritis, Lupus and Fibromyalgia all from the large number of medications needed post transplant for her to function. The Doctors have told us that she needs a treatment called ECP or extracorporeal photopheresis.
This is currently only available in Toronto and she would be required to go two consecutive days a week, every other week for 4-6 months. I would need to be with her for transport and mobility to and from the hospital. Therefore I will need to take these  days off work and will not be paid. Also, they want her to take a course of  Rutuximab, Which is infused by IV over 6 hours for thirty six weeks at a cost  of $10,000. This is currently not covered by our health care drug benefit plan.
The Doctor told us that she seriously needs to get these treatments and does not have the 6-12 months to wait until it is available in London, Ontario at the LRCP Cancer Treatment facility at Victoria Hospital.
This is why I am trying to raise the funds to help her have little to no pain daily and a good quality of life.
The Doctor is concerned that without these treatments her body will begin to fail as is will not be able to continue to fight the GVHD along with her liver needing to constantly being overtaxed trying to cleanse the meds from her body. currently Laurie is on 35 medications to manage her pain, mobility and try to keep the GVHD at bay, he fears that she may not live past 6 months without the treatments.
Laurie is the strongest woman I know and has already proved that in the past 8 years since she was diagnosed. I witnessed her endure 14 bone marrow biopsies 2 of them from the breast bone. very painful.
She is very determined and remains positive as her battle continues. Laurie very much wants to be here to see our granddaughter grow up....

Please, if you can, help us to attain our goal.
