Help Save Krestova Community Lands

134 acres of cherished Doukhobor lands are in danger of being sold. We have until Oct 5, 2022 to preserve it as a Regional Park or it will be sold to a private interest! With populations increasing and so much land being bought, sold and subdivided into small parcels, this land serves as an opportunity to keep it wild for generations.

These vast trails in Krestova have been created and used for many decades by the locals. It is a prime recreational environment for hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross country skiing and more. Its unique geography hold two remaining kettle holes from the last Ice Age and a pond that is one of few wetland areas in Krestova. It hosts plentiful animal life - owls, loons, ducks, turkeys, tree frogs, blue tailed salamanders, elk, deer, black bears and coyotes to name a few. It has a diverse plant species such as snow brush, ponderosa pine, lodgepole pine, trembling aspen, glacier Lillies, wild garlic, fairy slippers and more. It holds cultural heritage with significance to Indigenous and Doukhobor communities. Local biologists, geologists and environmental specialists recognize the importance of protecting these lands from development.

We need $870,000 to secure the park. To date we have received $422,000 in grants and donations. Please donate to make this a regional park so the lands can stay in the community for generations to come.

If we have not raised sufficient amounts by contract closing date of Oct 5, 2022, all money donated to this gofundme account will be donated to the Sequoia School Bursary to help students achieve their goals after graduation.
