Help save a vet. Neil Adams needs a Kidney

Donation protected
My husband Neil Adams is a 20 year Navy vet. He retired in 2012.  After a rough tour in Afghanistan where he lost majority of his unit.   Retirement was suppose to be a great time. He was finally going to be home with the kids and I.  Needless to say It has been rough road since retirement.  He lost both his parents and his brother in past three years due to health issues.

Now he is having to deal with another battle. On Aug 3rd 2019, I had to rush him to the ER because he was having shortness of breathe. That morning is kinda of blur to me.  They took him back immediately.  His blood pressure was crazy high.  They ran some tests on him and put him on emergency Dialysis.       He was diagnosed with end stage renal failure .  We were both in shock not knowing what that meant.  He is not diabetic  or had any other health issue prior other than High blood (raising three teenagers could do that to yeah lol) it was managed.

Through all this he tried to keep a positive attitude.  He keeps getting thrown bumps in road but he wants to live so he keeps fighting. He had three surgeries in October so he can start PD Dailysis that did not work.  He was excited he could have some what a normal life with that.  They told him that unfortunately that option will not work.  He needs to get a fistula. Once it matures we can consider trying home dialysis. We are starting that process January 2nd.

Even with with insurance we are racking up the medical bills.  I had to step away from my career as a Insurance agent to focus on getting him healthy.  I try to bartender a couple nights a week but that is nowhere near what I made. He has dialysis three times a week for four hours.  We have numerous appointments weekly.  He has been seeing oncology because they are watching for cancer as well. We are also fighting the VA this was service connected.  His job has been completely awesome they let him work from home around his appointments and dailysis treatments. I will forever be grateful to them.

We are starting the process for transplant it is a very intense process.   They are looking at a 6 year waiting period for his blood type O -.for deceased donor.  They recommend he gets listed at several different hospitals.  Our goal is to list him at Duke and John Hopkins all with in a three hour drive for us.  Living donor would cut the time.  Study shows transplant patience are living 4 times longer than a patient on dialysis.

Please consider helping.  Neil has given 20 years to military service and sacrificed time with his family being deployed more than 75% of that time.

Any donations, small or large, will help with the cost associated with medical bills, travel, and recovery time (when he is not able to work).  I am trying to take away one of his stresses so he can focus on his health.
