Help Sarah V beat PTSD and Get to Nursing School

Donación protegida
I am Sarah and three years ago, I found a passion I didn't know I had. I discovered that caring for the elderly and sick as a Certified Nursing Assistant is what I am most passionate about. I open my heart to all my patients and I take pride in the care I give.  Now, I am ready to give that care and open heart to myself. I have big goals in the nursing field. I wish to return to school to obtain my LPN certificate- Licensed Practical Nurse and serve at a greater capacity as a health care provider, but in order to do that  I have to love and heal myself first.

Recently, I have had to take a leave of absence from my nursing work in order to focus on my own healing. I experienced serious and repeated trauma as a child. I have now been diagnosed with PTSD-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I experience flashbacks, dissociation, panic, overwhelm, and fear. DAILY.

These symptoms are so severe that it has impacted my ability to work, my ability to be a partner, and my ability to love, especially myself. I never know when I will be in a full panic with distorted thinking, too depressed to get out of bed, or even flooded with visual flashbacks of this trauma.

My self-esteem is at bottom. My trauma has been my companion since I was a child.

I have been in and out of different therapy programs since I was 14. Currently, I am doing a virtual IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) for trauma, and I have gained some good coping skills. And they've helped. Yet as this program is about to end, I realize that it is not enough. In my honest moments, I reflect this is only just the beginning of my healing journey. I can't return to caring for patients and start my LPN training not knowing when a flashback will happen.

The best option for me is The Sanctuary at Sedona, a 30-day residential program located in Arizona. This center has the knowledge, expertise, and experience needed to address my daily struggles. I got the opportunity to spend five days and nights there when someone close to me was a client. I gained A LOT in those five days and experienced glimpses of the Sarah that is healed and ready to take (and enjoy) any obstacle I encounter.

Here is a short video on PTSD treatment at the Sanctuary at Sedona.

The Sanctuary at Sedona is the premier holistic, medically-supported, cutting edge treatment center for trauma recovery. Their program is particularly effective for trauma as it supports the whole person: medically, mentally, and emotionally. For example, clients receive brain scans that show how the brain has changed and healed from day one to day 30 (locking in belief in the real-life, scientifically documented physical changes to brain structure). In addition, individualized schedules are developed to include regular nutrition classes, daily yoga and meditation, in-depth study of ancient Native American traditions and lectures on the very latest research in mental health treatment.

My health insurance will only cover a small portion of the Sanctuary fees. I am asking for donations to fund my time at the Sanctuary. The sooner I can get to the Sanctuary accelerates me  getting  back to my patients and beginning
my LPN studies.
Any and all donations will provide me the opportunity to heal from the past, and open the door to the future.

No more bandaids on old scars. It's time to rip that bandaid off and do the deepest healing. I need your help to get the treatment that will set me on track to be the caregiver, partner, and person I long to be.

Please support me in my full recovery and help me return  to the patients I love to care for, and, most importantly, to a new, positive future that I can vividly image but not quite reach just yet.
