My name is Samantha (Sami) Maldonado and I am looking for a hand from you to achieve a 2021 opportunity.
I'm originally from Quito - Ecuador. Currently, I am a freshman student-athlete at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky. I attended Traverse City Central High School in Traverse City, Michigan for both my Junior and Senior years and graduated with honors in May of 2020 with a GPA of 3.92. My plans to attend college in Michigan fell apart but luckily there was a plan B. With both academic and cycling scholarships along with family savings and a personal loan from an uncle, I was able to enter LWC in the fall of 2020.
Even so, after a while, COVID-19 and the economic crisis in Ecuador and the rest of the world, caused my parents to go bankrupt and is currently pushing my uncle’s business towards bankruptcy, thus my uncle is unable to cover the loan that was promised. Because of losing my family's financial support, I'm on the road to becoming a college dropout due to a lack of financial resources. Being an international student under an F-1 visa, I do not qualify for any federal assistance, such as loans, scholarships, or grants. Neither am I allowed to work outside off-campus.
I very much enjoy living in Kentucky and attending LWC, where I achieved a Cumulative GPA of 3.88 during my first semester. The last thing on my plan is to drop out of school. I would like to be able to do this on my own, but even with the scholarships and my part-time job on campus, I'm still going to be short of funds unless I am able to find a personal loan and some help to pay for the upcoming months of tuition.
Any amount of support will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much!
