Help Saadany to study his Data Science MSc

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Léa Urbanczyk and I'm a student from Marseille, France. I am starting a fundraiser for Mohamed Elsaadany, an Egyptian fresh graduate from ELTE University in Budapest, Hungary. This September, Mohamed will start a master's degree in Data Science at the University of Padova in Italy and he is waiting for a scholarship that, unfortunately, he will receive at the end of his first semester there. Therefore, Mohamed needs our support to get through these few months and be able to stand on his feet financially.

Since Hungary is not supported by GoFundMe, he turned to me with the request to set up this campaign for him. If the campaign is successful, the full amount will be transferred to him so that he can relocate to Padova and cover his essential expenses till he receives the scholarship.

Here is his personal campaign text:

Hello, I’m Mohamed Elsaadany, an Egyptian fresh graduate from ELTE University (Computer science BSc) in Budapest, Hungary. Now, I’m pursuing my MSc and I have already enrolled in the Data Science MSc program at Padova University in Italy and I’m starting my studies this autumn semester 2021/2022. Currently, I’m waiting for a regional scholarship from the Italian government based on my financial status but I will receive it by the end of the first semester. Therefore I am starting this fund to cover my first semester in Italy financially; relocation, accommodation, living costs, etc.

Since always, due to my family’s financial status, I have been struggling financially since a very early age and have had to work besides school since I was 13 years old to provide for myself and to support my family. Yet, I managed to get an outstanding grade in high school that allowed me to join the faculty of engineering in Alexandria, Egypt. However, after few years in the university, alongside a lot of changes in Egypt after the revolution in 2011, I figured out that what I wanted is to go abroad and do something other than engineering. The decision that changed my whole life afterward.

In 2017, I was granted a scholarship from the Hungarian government to do my Computer science BSc in Budapest. Again, I was struggling financially in the beginning but I had no give-up option. I managed to get a job besides my classes in a company’s warehouse outside of the city and I could get through with the scholarship small allowance plus my work salary. The thing that affected my grades a bit in the first two years but After that, I could secure an internship position for 7 months in BlackRock Portfolio Analysis and Solutions Tech team which eased my situation quite well in that period.

Last semester, I have finally proudly graduated BSc with a top-level thesis work titled: “An algorithm to minimize international transaction fees using graph theory with a Case study on the World Bank’s data on Bilateral Remittance Matrices”. The project opened my eyes to what I want to do next and boosted my huge interest in data science and networks. I started applying for several master’s programs in the field and got accepted in three different Universities in Europe but I finally choose to join The data science MSc program at Padova University, Italy and I’m starting next semester.

I have made it that far through huge personal struggles since I was in Egypt and I can’t give up now and let it end here. I’m full of faith in the community and hope in your generosity to help me achieve my further academic goals.
