Help run a rural school in Ghandruk, Nepal

Hello everyone,

My name is Surya Gurung and I am 56 years old. With the intention to raise £5,000 and help run (Meshram baraha secondary school) which is situated in the rural part of Nepal : I am running the EVEREST MARATHON this year on the 29th of May.

Sadly, there have been many students who were unable to progress to Post 16 education in this school due to the government's reluctance to provide funding for the teachers. As a result, many students quit education because their families were not able to support them financially to go to schools in the city. Equally, for other students ; this also meant that they would have to do 8 hours tedious commute every day by bus to access post-16 education far away from home.

With perpetual requests from the community in the village and With many hurdles and obstacles: At last, the government finally granted the school permission to open admission for year 11 and 12 from 2021. However, the obstacle remains as the villagers are left to pay and provide funding for the teacher's salaries and school materials. Therefore, I intend to raise £5,000 to support the continuation of post-16 education in this rural school.
