Help Rooster Walk Again

Donation protected
Nice to meet you, my name is Sarah Ritzius. I am Roosters mom and best friend, and I am very glad you are reading this.

Recently Rooster was diagnosed with a rapidly progressing case of IVDD (intervertebral disc disease).  IVDD is a degenerative disease, and something he was born with.  He is slowly losing the function of his hind legs. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him which includes medications, surgery and rehab.

Rooster is the most active, outgoing dachshund I've ever seen. He was born with the desire to be outdoors and on adventures. At 10 weeks old he was walking trails off leash, never running too far and always looking back waiting for us to catch up.  We have taken him on a road trip around the U.S.. He has climbed mountains with us in Colorado, dug holes in the sand in South Carolina, and chased rabbits in Alabama. He as been accidentally hooked with a fishing lure and has fallen down a steep ravine being far too curious for his own good. He has a heart of gold and is the goodest boy there is. Rooster means the world to me, and there is nothing I wouldn't do for him. I have spent the most amazing 4.5 years with him, and if I am lucky I will get to spend another 10 or more with him.

We understand that he may never be quite as active as he was, but getting him to the point where he is mobile on his own with zero pain would be incredible! If you choose to help, the funds would help us pay for surgery and the rehab that would follow. You would be helping my best friend be able to walk again, and to me that is something I could never repay.

EVERY cent would be used DIRECTLY for his care. If we are lucky enough to raise more than we need, then we would donate the remainder to local dachshund rescues in Roosters name.

***I know that everyone around the world is facing a crisis of their own with COVID-19. I hope everyone is staying safe, both physically and mentally during this unprecedented time. If you are not in a position to make a donation than please share the link with your social networks. Help us get the word out!

UPDATE: We have an appointment on 5/5/2020 with a rehab specialist to discuss our options before and after surgery.
