Help Ron Trink Fight Extremely Rare Cancer

Some background. Over the last approximately 3 yrs Ron Trink has had numbness, tingling and pain on the left side of his face. This slowly also progressed into a problem with pain and irritation in the left eye.
Through a process of many tests and non-effective treatments, on January 9/2020 he finally ended up going to an Ophthalmologist. Dr. Ting (ophthalmologist), who is an amazingly dedicated individual, discovered that Ron was suffering from a extremely rare form of cancer called ADENOID CYSTIC CARCINOMA. As mentioned it is very rare and has a high mortality rate. It is a tumor that developed in the left tear duct and grew around and behind the left eye.
Unfortunately there is no treatment available in Canada other than surgical removal. Due to its size and location the surgery is complex and his doctors feel they will not be able to remove all of the cancer. To this end, Dr Ting discovered there is a procedure available to possibly shrink the tumor and increase the chances of successful surgical removal. The complication in all of this is that the treatment is in Miami, Fl. The treatment known as INTRAARTERIAL CYTOREDUCTIVE CHEMOTHERAPY (IACC) is a radical form of Chemo that is delivered to the cancerous area directly through an artery instead of the traditional IV in a vein. The promising factor is that this treatment has changed the mortality rate of this type of cancer from 80% to 20%.
Sometime within the next two weeks he will be heading to Miami for treatment to try and shrink the tumor. This, from what is understood will consist of 2 treatments of IACC along with traditional chemo. If the first treatments are successful a third may be added. This will take place over approximately 3 months, give or take. The cost of travel, food, transportation, accommodation and any out of coverage medication will be out of pocket. These expenses will be in U.S. funds, so inflated when the exchange rate from CDN is factored in. This will put a significant financial burden on Ron and his family during this difficult and stressful time.
When Ron returns and has recovered from chemo the next step is the surgery. Hopefully they will now be able to remove the entire tumor. The unfortunate byproduct of this is Ron will be losing his left eye. The tumor has also deteriorated the bone around the eye so all of the eye socket will also be removed. Once he has recovered from surgery and any reconstructive procedures, there will be a combination of treatments consisting of chemo and radiation.
This whole process has unfolded in just over 2 months. Ron is thankful that things are now rolling towards treatment but is also very apprehensive about what the future will bring. It is all becoming very real.
