My Story
Hi my name is Reinaldo Medina. After facing Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, one of the worst experience of my life, I never imagined that I would have to face something even more devastating just 6 months later. Bladder Cancer.
The realization of having cancer has been a challenging and fearful experience. After receiving a full treatment of BCG for 6 weeks, the biopsy revealed that the cancer remained. My options for medical treatment were limited on the Island. I was confronted in making the most difficult decision of my whole life: moving to Florida and leaving behind my two sons Reinaldo and Fernando and my daughter Coralis.
The Cost
Moving to Florida has left me and my wife without a household income. Luckily, my wife Maritza has been by my side every step of the way, taking me to all of my appointments and treatments. Our drive to the medical center is nearly two hours away. As you can imagine bills are starting to mount up including but not limited to the following: Increased Insurance Premiums, Medical Cost, (chemotherapy and surgery) Mortgage payments, Utilities bills, and Travel expenses just to name a few.
