Help replace vehicle that was totaled in tornado

Donation protected

My name is Kyanna L. Parsons-Perez, known on Facebook as Kyanna Lou. I am a mother of 4, I live in Paducah, KY and worked at the candle factory (Mayfield Consumer Products) in Mayfield, Ky. I am one of the survivors of the catastrophic tornado that struck Mayfield on December 10.

I arrived at work that night as I normally would, anxiously awaiting my 40th birthday on December 11. It was an unusually warm evening for December. I remember being instructed to go the storm shelter area. After being there a short while we were instructed “get to work”. I went to the QA office to get my assignment for the evening and went to work. After working some time we were advised to go back into the storm shelter area. We waited as attendance was taken, and to be given the all clear to get back to our lines…THAT NEVER HAPPENED!!!

I remember hearing thunder and rumbling, my coworkers were oohhhing and ahhhing, I said “y’all acting like y’all ain’t never been in a storm before”. Then I start feeling this gust of wind, and my ears began to pop. My coworkers that were at the entrance of the area began coming all the way inside and someone said “get down”. The lights went out, the building swayed from side to side then BOOM the ceiling collapsed. I found myself pinned under the water fountain. I heard the terrifying screams of my coworkers as I tried to process what was happening. I tried my best to keep those around me calm while not losing it myself. I was so worried about my friend that was outside inside a van. I was unable to reach him and feared the worst. Oddly enough I was able to hold on to my phone. After calling 911 and not feeling reassured about rescue efforts, I decided to do a Facebook Live and solicit the help of others. I needed people to know we were trapped and that we needed help.

My coworkers and I supported and encouraged one another for almost 3 hours while we were trapped in darkness with only the lights from our cell phones. We called family members and prayed that God would save us. I was unable to move either of my legs the entire time.

I was the last one to get out from my area because of where I was located. I did not think I was going to make it out alive. I found out I was not only pinned under the water fountain, but an air conditioning unit was behind it and 5 FEET OF DEBRIS.

I am so grateful that I was rescued, the rush of relief that came over me as I exited. I looked back to where we were trapped and thanked God for getting us out and my friend was safe as well.

Once I got out I learned all our vehicles were totaled. Which is the reason for this live. I am left without a vehicle, no way to get around for me and my 4 children. Also it is Christmas time and I have no idea when or if we are going back to work.

I am asking for donations to purchase a vehicle for my family. Any amount will be appreciated, I thank you in advance.
