Last night, someone stole the generator off the back of our food truck which gives it power to operate. If any of you know our current situation, you know that this was like a kick to the face when we were already down.
My husband Jake is one of the hardest working and driven people I know. He is a definition of an entrepreneur, and has been whole heartedly commited to making The Lost Bread our family's source of income. This has been extremely stressful and humbling to say the least, especially as it started just a few weeks before our son was born. I can recall Jake saying he felt like he was aging a year per day because he was so overwhelmed. Even though this journey has been extrememly hard, we have been grateful to learn how strong we are, how kind people can be, and how much we can survive without.
We have recently moved to northern Utah from Saint George in a last hope that the truck could survive. We have met some other food truck owners that have been great to help us get a foothold in the market up here. We have been very optomistic about the future of the Lost Bread.
To operate a food truck, you legally have to have a commesary kitchen that will ensure food safety. The one that we have found in our area is also a storage unit for to the truck, where we can plug our fridge and keep the truck in a safe place. The issue is that we have been unable to get a hold of the owners of this storage area since we signed the contract, even though we have paid $450 per month for kitchen and storage unit use, and they have not given us a key so we can park our truck there. Thats why the food truck was parked in front of our house, where we now know it was not safe.
This page is our last call for help. The generator we had was the smallest we were able to operate with, which was 7000 watts. To replace this generator would be $4000 dollars. If we are unable to operate our food truck, we will be late on payments, which will damage the credit of investors, and the bank will take items another investor has put up as collateral. We will have to sell the truck for much less than its worth because we wont have a generator to run it with. I wish that I could say that we had savings to fall back on or to replace the generator with, but financial strain this last year has been has made that impossible. We would be so grateful for any help you could give. Thank you with all the gratitude in our hearts.
