Dancin' in the Spotlight Storm Damage
Several parents are starting this fundraiser to benefit Dancin' in the Spotlight following the destruction from Hurricane Ida on Wednesday, September 1st. Dancin' in the Spotlight is a beautiful dance studio in Rahway, New Jersey, owned and operated by Liz Lebar, with assistance from her daughters, Maranda Lebar and Amarisa Lebar. The hurricane left approximately one foot of water in the building. The water totally destroyed the floors, marley, lower wall coverings, mirrors, brand new acro mats, sound system, piano, several costumes and some props. Unfortunately, the studio is not protected by flood insurance. The studio is scheduled to open on September 13th, and DITS staff and volunteers are working non-stop to make that happen! Liz kept the studio going through COVID, ran Zoom classes for months, and held dance classes and a recital outside in the back parking lot. When it was finally safe, they returned indoors with extensive cleaning efforts and masks! Please consider donating to repair Dancin' in the Spotlight for the children who consider it their second home, and feel free to pass this along to others who might be able to help!
