"I’m excited to announce that the money needed to open has been raised. A couple who wishes to remain anonymous has made a huge donation and to be honest it floored me. God is good! Look forward to announcing our grand reopening soon! I want to thank everyone who donated. I’m very humbled by your generosity!
After hearing the upsetting and shocking news about Southern Smoq closing their doors, dozens of people have reached out begging Steve to re-open. Many of us have offered to help raise money to allow them to re-open. So.... I spoke with Steve and asked him what he needs to make this happen. Steve has given me permission to start this GoFundMe.
**If this does not raise enough money to re-open by the DEADLINE, ALL FUNDS will be refunded. (Be sure your donation is NOT anonymous, just in case...)
Who is ready to make sure Flowery Branch and the surrounding areas can continue to get the BEST BBQ around??
Here is a message from Steve:
"I want to start by saying thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the comments that I have received on Facebook and directly from many of you. It was overwhelming and very much appreciated. You guys truly are the best customers.
I agreed to this Go Fund Me campaign because of the outpouring from our loyal customers after we announced our closing of the restaurant on January 22, 2018. We closed our doors because the business model we were using was not sustaining the business, along with costly repairs and a slower than normal winter primarily due to the weather.
This was compounded by a costly move from across the street. If we raise enough to re-open we will do so with a slightly modified business plan along with adding Tuesday to our schedule and possibly Sunday lunch. We will switch to a cafeteria style set up where you go through the line and pick what you want to eat, pay and then find a seat. We will pursue getting our beer license right away. We will look at adding some non bbq fare to our menu for lunches such as sandwiches and a soup or two. We will open our drive-through up to pick up online orders.
We will be offering the same quality food we did before but we will have to make some changes on quantities so we do not end up with a lot of unsold product each night.
We will likely make some other changes such as only offering turkey on Saturdays or for catering orders. Things that are not selling will be taken off the menu.
Changes of this type are necessary for us to make a profit. So if you want to see us re-open, we have until February 10th to raise $35,000 which will catch us up with what we currently owe and help us get our beer license.
If we do not raise the minimum needed to re-open, you have my word that we will refund the donations because this is not about me recouping my money. This is purely about getting the restaurant open again and being profitable.
Thank you in advance for your donations."
