Help Reni with Surgery

If you ask anyone who knows Reni Goddard-Vaughan, they would say she is one of the most genuine, strong, positive, loving, smart and talented young women they have ever met. She is not only a devoted dancer, who I have had the opportunity to teach, but she is a devoted friend, student, daughter and sister. Reni is a senior in high school, full of love, joy and aspiration, and sees the beauty in almost every situation. She is part of Alaska Dance Theatre's Senior Student Company where she has devoted many hours of rehearsals and dance classes and is a role model to many other young dancers in the school. It is not surprising that her family is just as beautiful, full of love and devotion.

Reni has had to undergo an emergency surgery to remove a blood clot that has caused an unexpected financial burden to her family. For a dancer, this can be a devastating halt to not only her training but also a future career. She was admitted into the hospital almost a week ago, after noticing her arm swelling and turning red during a company dance class as she prepared for a performance. After two days of being evaluated in the hospital, Reni was told she must undergo a surgery to partially remove the first rib that is causing an impingement forming the blood clot. During the surgery, she was faced with some complications. Reni's mother, Pili Goddard-Vaughan has been by her side this entire time. By raising money, we would be able to contribute not only towards her medical expenses, but also towards her recovery that she will desperately need. Together, with the help of the community and other artists, we can help her get back on her toes. Anything will help!
