Renato Aquino COVID Double lung transplant fund

Donation protected

My uncle Renato Aquino loves taking care of people and making them happy. To us his  nieces and nephews, he’s known as the “fun uncle” who makes silly faces and enjoys watching the Chicago White Sox. Renato was born and raised in the Philippines, before moving to Illinois more than 30 years ago for a career in the medical field. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, he was on the front lines caring for patients. In May 2020, Renato contacted the virus and suffered permanent lung damage.

Renato was placed on a ventilator and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a life support machine that does the work of the heart and lungs, before being transferred to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for consideration of a double-lung transplant. In February, Renato received beautiful, healthy lungs and continues to recover at optimal pace.

Recovery for a double-lung transplant can take up to one year. Renato won’t be able to work during his recovery, so money from the GoFundMe page will help with medical bills and living expenses until he can get back to doing the work he loves. Renato doesn’t like to ask for help, but he is grateful for the support.

Please help my Uncle get back on his feet.
Thank you!
